Parental Engagement

At Oak Hill, we recognise and value all the work that our parents, staff and children do to make our school the best it can be. We are very proud of how parents and teachers work together to continually improve our school community.

Communication with Parents

We like to feel that, in partnership with parents, we are a team working together to create an environment of excellence where each child is valued, nurtured and guided in preparation to face the challenges ahead with confidence. We believe that a positive relationship between home and school is extremely important. We encourage parents to take a real interest in their child’s schooling and to work together with the school in helping them to achieve the very best standards. We will communicate through letters, Dojo messages and phone calls.

Parents’ Evenings

Parent’s evenings are held in Autumn and Spring terms, and we also hold parental drop in sessions in the Summer term to discuss the end of year reports. Currently due to COVID restrictions, these are currently being held virtually. These are an opportunity for you to come into school and meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss their progress and to view their work. If you have any concerns at any other time, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to speak to your child’s teacher. .

Parental Engagement

Each term, parents and carers are invited into school to share some of the learning taking place with their child. It is an opportunity for you to focus solely on them and for you to gain a better understanding of their life in school.

Easter / Christmas Craft Days

These are opportunities offered throughout the school year for you to come and do something special with your child. For a small fee, you can come and get creative with your child and have some fun!

All of these opportunities are spread out (as much as possible) across the year so that there is a menu of Parental Engagement activities for you to choose from. There is no expectation that you come to all of the events.
