All children have settled well into their new Year 1 classrooms  and it is lovely to see the children playing together on the playground at playtimes, chatting about their learning.

We have begun to learn about the Gruffalo as he is asking for our help as he is planning on moving to Redditch as his friends in his current forest are being unkind. We have been exploring Forest School in Science, looking at the types of trees and observing the changes of the seasons. We have explored whether we think there's anywhere in Redditch where the Gruffalo could live and what type of house he would need.

The children have also enjoyed making houses through continuous provision and in Forest School using natural materials. This has allowed them to develop their thinking and talk collaboratively when designing and evaluating their projects.

We have a kind and caring Year 1 who have discussed how the Gruffalo may be feeling and how we can be kind to him. We are looking forward to developing these skills over the next few weeks.
